As the current reigning female artist on the charts, 2013 has definitely been a great year for Miley Cyrus. Returning from her wins and widely talked about performance from the American Music Awards, she even dominating Google trends in most categories. Miley has grown from strength to strength since her debut as Hannah Montana. Regularly evolving and changing her image she is always one step ahead of the curve. As the winner of numerous awards she continues to dominate and is expected to be the word on everyone’s lips as she launches her Bangerz Tour in early 2014.
With the release of Bangerz this year, Miley Cyrus has catapulted herself as not just a tabloid fodder but a celebrated and talented artist. Her first single off the album ‘We Can’t Stop’ rocketed to Number one on the charts. The video companion to the single also produced some scandal as she fully replants herself from Hannah Montana to grown-up. Her second single ‘Wrecking Ball’ became a dominating track and caused further controversy with the video clip image of her naked on a wrecking ball. It has been parodied by anyone and everyone proving just how forward thinking and popular she is.
Born Destiny Hope Cyrus on November 23rd 1992, she is the daughter of country singer Billy Ray Cyrus of ‘Achy Breaky Heart’ fame. She first came to prominence as the lead character on ‘Hannah Montana’, a Disney Channel show about a famous singer who has a secret identity in real life so she could have the best of both worlds. The show debuted in 2006 and became one of the most popular shows on the Disney Channel. This led to Miley headlining shows as both Hannah Montana and herself. Choosing to retire the character in 2009, she has since released three studio albums but Bangerz has been her biggest success to date.
Her first album Hannah Montana 2: Meet Miley Cyrus produced her first major popular track ‘See you Again’ which reached the Top 10 on the Billboard 100. Her tour ‘Best of Both Worlds’ was a massive success and tickets sold out in minutes. Her second album Breakout hit Number 1 on the Billboard 100 and produced the hit single ‘7 Things’ it was during this time she received a Golden Globe nomination for the song she wrote for animated picture ‘Bolt’. Her third studio album Time of Your Lives also topped the Billboard 100 charts helped by its lead single ‘Party in the USA’ which made it to Number 2. She followed up this success with her ‘Wonderworld’ Tour. Her next album ‘Can’t be Tamed’ debuted at Number 3 and the title track at Number 8.
Her new tour will open on Valentine’s Day 2014 in Vancouver, BC and end on April 24th in Uniondale, NY. The tour will reach 38 cities around North America. The states include California, Ohio, New York, Florida and Georgia. It is rumoured that Cyrus will extend the tour world-wide eventually.
